Fox Basketball League Rules Clarifications

  1. Teams are given three time-outs per game. In overtime, teams will receive one additional time-out for all overtimes. The first overtime is two minutes with the first minute and ½ being a running clock. All additional over-times are one minute with the first thirty seconds running.
  1. The one for two free throw rule is in effect for the whole game, including overtime. Other than the clock being stopped, no rule changes exist in the last two minutes of the game.
  1. There is a twenty point press rule. All players on the leading team must get back to ½ court before defending the basketball.
  1. The clock is running until the last minute of the first half and the last two minutes in the second half. Both halves are twenty minute running clocks. The clock stops during time-outs and injuries.
  1. In the 3rd/4th grade divisions, the defense isn’t allowed to come past half court. When a team is winning by twenty points, they must get back inside the three point line before defending the basketball. They aren’t allowed to come outside the three point arc.
  1. Personal fouls are now being recorded at all levels. We will go by normal high school rules- where a player fouls out on their 5th
  1. All divisions except the middle school boys will use the 28.5 girls’ ball. The middle school boys will use the 29.5 boys’ ball. With the 5th/6th Boys, if both teams agree to use the 29.5 boys’ ball, they can. If one team disagrees, the 28.5 girls’ ball will be used.
  1. Normal rules apply for when a team is in the bonus. On the 7th foul, a team will shoot the bonus- one free throw for two points.
  1. In the 1st/2nd Grade divisions- we do two 22 minute halves with a running clock. No referees are used- no score is kept. Coaches keep the game moving.
